Charlaine Harris – True Blood, the famed T.V. series is based on the series of vampire romance novels created by Charlaine Harris. Her original vampire book, Dead Until Dark, is the first in a series of vampire romance novels that introduces Sookie Stackhouse to the vampire world. In this story, vampires have ‘come out’ of hiding and entered the real world as an active part of society. The books start with Sookie’s relationship with her vampire boyfriend Bill, but Sookie soon finds out that the vampire world is more complicated than she could imagine. Charlaine Harris’ series of books are definitely worth reading but if you are a True Blood fan, don’t expect the books to T.V. series plot exactly. A lot of embellishments are included in the made-for-T.V. plots. The books themselves delve deeper into Sookie and Bill’s thoughts and relationship and each book has an interesting story behind it with a mystery to solve.

L. J. Smith – If you have ever watched the T.V. series, The Vampire Diaries, you really should read the books too. L. J. Smith is the vampire romance book author that created the characters and the basic plot behind the T.V. scenes. Elena is the human element and her primary love interest is Stephan, who happens to be a vampire. A complication arises when Stephan’s brother Damon is also in love with Elena, so a rivalry is present to make the story more interesting. Damon is the ‘evil’ type of vampire, whereas Stephan is the ‘good’ one. The three battle the forces of evil and vampires together, though, to keep their hometown of Mystic Falls safe. The actual vampire romance books by L. J. Smith vary quite a bit from the T.V. series, but they do include all the basic characters. The books present quite a good read if you don’t mind straying from the T.V. stories.

If you are into vampire romance world and vampire romance books, you would definitely enjoy reading the stories from the vampire book authors mentioned above. You have to remember, though, that viewing the stories in movies or on T.V. is not the same as reading the works. Books can delve deeper into the characters mind works, and many visual enhancements are made in the filming to make the story more understandable to the audience. All of the books by these authors, though, make love and romance a part of their stories, with the vampire twist to enhance the traditional romance novel experience.

I wanted to let you know that I am one of those many people who have fallen in love with the vampire genre. I was hooked from the first moment I saw the Twilight movie (from the Stephenie Meyer book). After the movie, I read ever book she wrote, the whole Twilight saga, including “The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner” and her sci fi offering “The Host” (I am also a fan of science fiction). I then got into reading other vampire books (and watching vampire movies and T.V. series, like True Blood and The Vampire Diaries).

Well, that’s what’s been keeping me so busy lately. I fell in love with the vampire world and being a writer myself, I just had to write about it. I have even started my own website centred around vampires, Vampire Books Online, where you can find my free online vampire romance books to read, as well as reviews on other vampire books authors.

Just a little background… For years I worked in an office environment and I hated it. I was good at my job and I kept advancing, making more and more money. That was basically what kept me in my job–the money. But I really hated it. I hated all the office politics and back-stabbing. I hated the conference calls and meetings, discussing things I really wasn’t that interested in, but had to know about to keep up with my job. I had to pretend to agree with all the crap and policies that went along with the company I worked for (and they say that the best actors are all in Hollywood!)

Well, one day a health issue came up and I had to take a leave of absence from work. You may find this hard to believe, but that was one of the best things that ever happened to me. When I was at home recovering, I learned what life was truly about (and funnily enough, it wasn’t money!)

As I was at home contemplating life, I started to do things I really liked to do, but never had the time or energy for while I was working. If you have read other posts on this blog, you probably know that I like to write. That was one of the things I started to do again. I never had time to write when I was working a regular job, what with overtime, taking care of the kids and the house, attending functions I wasn’t really interested in and what-not.

I had always had a passion for writing so now I had time to take it up again. Then I started my own website for writing services and I learned that I could actually make money doing what I loved.

Another thing I had let go by the wayside was my art. I also love to paint and draw and be creative (I guess that is part of the writing too). I started to paint again, and I also started to sell some of my works. Can you imagine how rewarding that is? I am actually paid (and appreciated) for work I love to do.

I have finally found the way to follow my dreams and pursue my passions. I have since given up my office job and make my income totally online–with my writing services and selling my artwork. (I split my time between the two.)

The best part is that I have never been happier. Of course, I don’t yet make the big money I used to make at my high-paying office job, but I’m getting there. I am learning as I go along and it is steadily improving. And part of the fun of it is growing and learning the new business, which is my own.

I said I was going to give you advice and here it is. Life is short and you don’t know when your number comes up. If you are not happy with what you are doing and work at your job just to make money, you really have to re-consider what you are doing.

If you have a dream or are passionate about something, there is sure to be a way to make money at it. In fact, the bigger your passion for your interest, the better chance you will have to pass that on and make money with it. People can see passion and will appreciate it.

So there it is, my advice to you (for what it is worth) — Follow your dreams and pursue your passion. And as a result, be happy!
